Top 5 Picks for GF Grub in South Walton

South Walton’s options for gluten-free dining are improving. If none of these interest you, just ask to speak with the chef. I’ve found the majority of restaurants will accommodate as best they can. That being said, here are our top picks:

1. Tommy Bahama’s Tropical Cafe at Grand Boulevard
   Located in Grand Boulevard, adjacent to the Sandestin resort, Tommy Bahama’s Tropical Cafe is a wonderful lunch or dinner destination. The restaurant has a dedicated gluten-free menu and knowledgeable staff. The atmosphere is relaxed and I was surprised to find a GF pineapple cheesecake on the dessert menu. There is also a grassy lawn and large outdoor fountain for the kids to play in adjacent to the restaurant. (Sit outside if the kids are restless).
2. Pizza by the Sea at WaterColor
   See a more in-depth description of the GF pizza here. Pizza by the Sea is about as kid-friendly as a restaurant can get. A rack of board books, a tub of outdoor toys and a wonderfully friendly staff will make this a favorite stop. The salads and soups are great too. Ask about GF toppings.
3. La Loba Bakery in Blue Mountain Beach
   La Loba is an unexpected find for gluten-free tummies. They offer a delicious GF granola, GF muffins, GF bread (made once a week) and GF beans and rice. There is an outdoor deck if you prefer to stay and eat. La Loba is not a dedicated GF baking facility, but they do take measures to avoid cross contamination.
4. Cantina Laredo in Grand Boulevard
   Have a hankering for Mexican food? Head on over to Cantina Laredo and ask for the GF menu. The manager is always quick to point out that the kitchen is not a dedicated GF kitchen, but, like La Loba, they take pains to avoid cross contamination. The Top-Shelf Guacamole (made table-side) is fantastic and could be a meal in of itself.
5. Raw & Juicy in Seaside
   Raw & Juicy is a fun little place to order lunch while you enjoy the town of Seaside. The “restaurant” serves raw foods, juices and smoothies out of a classic Airstream. There is plenty of outdoor seating, or the kids can run around on the large grass amphitheatre while you enjoy a picnic. They have great GF granola, smoothies and yogurts. All items are dairy free as well.
