Abrakadoodle Gets Kids Crafting & Laughing

[ 0 ] June 14, 2011 |

Abrakadoodle offers fun art camps for kids at Destin Commons.

I love a good summer day camp. Don’t you? If you live in the Destin/South Walton area then you’ve probably heard of the growing curriculum and programs offered through Abrakadoodle.

Based in the Destin Commons mall, Abrakadoodle offers week-long art camps with fun themes and drop-in classes. They are also expanding by offering classes and a Parents’ Night Out (I think that is genius) at Alys Beach in South Walton.

How cute is she? Fun at Abrakadoodle.

For only $20 (and provide a sack dinner/snack), your child will be amused and entertained for three hours at the luxurious Alys Beach Community Center. Designed by the talented architectural duo Khoury-Vogt Architects, the community center has a movie theatre with plush seating, a full kitchen, play room and interior courtyard with a swimming pool. The kids can make new friends and learn new art skills while you enjoy a night out.

Art camp programs also teach more than standard cut and paste. Children learn foil embossing techniques, how to sculpt, create mosaics and craft using recycled materials. There is even a “Chillin’ with Chihuly Camp” in August so kids can learn about this amazing American glass artist. Children need to be fully potty trained to attend art camp and parents are asked to pack peanut-free snacks for their children.

Sign up here for classes or camps and check out our calendar for more events.
